Why do we do what we do? On the first day of my degree at Myerscough college we were asked to sit down. The lecturer said to us all 'if you're here to make lots of money in this industry please leave now'. He then went on to explain that arboriculture is more a vocation - its a way of life... I now know what he means. From reading about trees to working with trees its often overlooked how important they really are. No trees. No humans... simple as that! Surely this is as important as doing a fancy degree in Maths.
We enjoy what we do, working with nature is rewarding. Changing landscapes for the better is rewarding and seeing customers happy with our services is highly satisfying. It's a physically challenging job, climbing trees, dragging branches, throwing logs but its worth it. It's also one of the most dangerous jobs in the world... but it is worth the risk. To have a job which is dynamic and challenging was worth not leaving the lecture room on that first day at college.
